ARTMS <Dall>
Five girls, destined like fate, stood at a new starting line and launched the name ARTMS. Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry reactivated ODD EYE CIRCLE, successfully completing a North American and European tour with the release of their new album <Version Up>, and Heejin was enough to promote the beauty of Korea with her solo album <K>. In addition, Haseul successfully completed a four-day solo concert in Seoul, showing her growth as a performance-oriented idol. ARTMS, having finished warming up, finally released their first full-length album <Dall>, containing the paradox of blessings and cruelty about love and life.
The intro track ‘url’ is like a ritual to get to the title track ‘Virtual Angel’. Like the url we must meet to move anywhere on the internet. Starting with Kim Lip's narration, the exhilarating rhythm encapsulates the album's dynamics.
The title track ‘Virtual Angel’ is a collaboration between EL CAPITXN and Vendors, who created tripleS’s ‘Generation’ and ‘Girls Never Die’, a junior group of Modhaus, for ARTMS. Based on Y2K-style Euro dance, they built up a sacred vibe that would resonate in a cathedral, completing a dance song with a new feel that had never been heard before.
Now that the development of AI and the existence of Virtual are becoming a reality. In fact, this song asks whether the existence of idols, which we have been consuming through TVs and mobile phones, has not been Virtual. The feelings of love and romance towards idols may not be real romance from the perspective of others, but wouldn't that feeling be purely love between idols and fans? ARTMS sings that the feelings that arise beyond the screen can be real, not virtual.
digipedi, who has been building the worldview since the days of LOONA, directed the music video and captured the stories of ARTMS and their fans in the video.
‘Sparkle’ expresses the sparkling flame of emotion through music. Just as we say that sparks fly when we compare love, how many fireworks will unfold in our love? The excitement is engraved in the voices of the ARTMS members.
‘The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy’ was a song that was cherished as a title, so much so that it was scheduled to be the title of ARTMS' next album. It was included in the album without hesitation to complete ARTMS' debut full-length album. Producer G-high, who created LOONA's representative song ‘Butterfly’, presented the song to the members, and as such, it contains a beat that can be loved by both existing and new fans.
The pre-released songs from ‘Flower Rhythm’ to ‘Candy Crush’ and ‘Air’ were all completed by sampling Heejin's solo song ‘Blossom’ and ‘Algorithm’, Haseul's solo ‘Plastic Candy’, and ODD EYE CIRCLE's ‘Air Force One’. It announces that each of their steps has come together to complete one team, ARTMS.
‘Unf/Air’, following ‘Air’, sings about the asymmetry of the emotion of love. I love you, but why don't you look at me? This unfairness is expressed in a calm and cute way.
‘Stranded’ unfortunately took second place in the ARTMS pre-release vote, but it was a highly complete song that was recorded as the first song during album preparation. The moment I monitored it in the first recording studio, this song already defined ARTMS' style.
‘Butterfly Effect’ tells the story of how LOONA's ‘Butterfly’'s butterfly effect became ARTMS. The music style of LOONA, which is so unique that the genre itself can be called ‘Butterfly’, and the musical heritage have been inherited, and ARTMS has taken flight with wings.
The last song, ‘Birth’, received overwhelming support from fans in the ARTMS pre-release gravity and became number one. And that ‘birth’ proves the existence of ARTMS. The already released music video captures the aesthetics of ARTMS so much that it is considered the most brutal and beautiful video in K-POP history.
ARTMS' future, which has already announced the start of a grand journey by releasing the world tour ‘Moonshot’ schedule even before the album's release, has begun here and now.
