■ Product Description
"One of the most memorable of my recent students. Listening to Dajin's music, I thought she was properly finding her own way of speaking. The fog of music that comfortably penetrates from the beginning to the last song moistens our barren hearts before we know it." — Jang Ki-ho (Light and Salt)
"With these songs, even thorny paths and storms become meaningful adventures. Even if you get lost and become a 'tree' alone, you want to experience the journey in that shape." — Lee Seol-ah (Singer-songwriter)
"The moment I played the first track, I was invited into her clear, pure, yet deep and honest world. Only after listening to the last track could I say goodbye to her." — Seon and Young (Musical couple)
"Unlike her usual innocent and gentle appearance, Dajin makes music with a firm and clear attitude. Her full-length album [You're the Only One Who Knows] shows flexibility in the steadfast Dajin. This is the biggest change I've felt since I first started listening to Dajin's music. The sounds and musically deepened interpretations that I couldn't hear before make me look forward to her future moves. And even in these changes, Dajin's kind and neat heart still shines in her music." — Jeon Yu-dong (Singer-songwriter)
A jazz-pop singer-songwriter whose every day is newly curious
Bokdajin's second album [You're the Only One Who Knows]
Imagine the home of a musician. A slightly secluded house on the outskirts rather than a common white or monochrome apartment in the city. The exterior is neither new nor too old. In the yard, a dog or cat lazes in the sunlight. When you open the front door, the tidy interior welcomes visitors. It's neither too bright nor too dark. Musical instruments such as a home piano and an old organ are located throughout. In the kitchen, the owner is busy preparing to welcome visitors. Eggplants and mushrooms are being baked in the oven. It feels like a warm breeze is blowing from somewhere along with a good smell. This is Bokdajin's new home, and you are invited to Dajin's housewarming. We plan to share secret stories that 'only we know' here until late tonight.
Youthful voice and light texture of sound. Easy lyrics and refreshing strings. Dajin is a person who continues the story with easy words. Because of that, some people tend to assume that Dajin is just a cheerful person. That is a misunderstanding. As anyone who has built their own home knows, it takes much more effort than you think to create a natural and comfortable home. The same goes for music.
〈Solving Worries〉, which announces the beginning of the album, is a witty appetizer that compactly presents the recipe for the music that will unfold in the future. Curious string intro, sophisticated chord work and light rhythm, unpretentiousness of worrying about "lunch menu and dessert to eat later" and a simple wish to live "full of fun days without worries". In addition, what makes Dajin's music different from common indie pop is probably Dajin's delicacy in carefully crafting each sound and each performance.
In the following tracks, Dajin's delicacy often creates impressive moments. For example, the layered chorus gives the illusion that raindrops are really falling "plop, plop", and the subtle push-and-pull rhythm movement in 〈Haerong Haerong〉, which is the first electronic pop she has tried. If the previous tracks focus on 'new attempts', from 〈Glass Wall〉 and 〈Tree〉 located in the center of the album, Dajin's well-done things—slow-tempo, cozy and sophisticated ballads—appear. Of course, with a deeper impression than before. 〈Wave〉, the song that represents the album, is the most prominent among them, and the juxtaposition of calmly reciting voice and swaying strings draws a beautiful drama.
In the process of preparing the album, Dajin repeatedly talked about her desire to "invite you to the small music house made by me and my friends." Decorating a house is done in small, invisible efforts every day. Filling that music house are various sounds and stories collected from here and there with new curiosity every day. Invitation requires courage. With the hope that many people will listen to the courage Dajin has shown.
