'K-band's Top Rookie' Dragon Pony Releases Second EP [Not Out]!
[Not Out] revealed, an autobiographical narrative capturing a facet of incomplete youth!
Dragon Pony, who created a fresh wave in the domestic music scene with the release of their first debut album [POP UP] on September 26, 2024, will release their second EP [Not Out] on March 19, 2025.
The title of this EP and its main title track, 'Not Out,' is a baseball term referring to a situation where a batter, despite being in a strikeout count, can still run as a base runner under specific conditions, meaning they are not out.
The main title track 'Not Out' likens modern youth, constantly challenging themselves towards their dreams, to a 'not out' situation. It offers encouragement that even though reality may be anxious and daunting like a long tunnel, the act of challenging itself is meaningful. At the same time, it firmly expresses the will to move forward without fear, even if the outcome of effort is a moment of despair. Its characteristic feature is maximizing the emotional immersion of the lyrics through a fluid arrangement that strategically places and deconstructs instruments, allowing listeners to experience both a lyrical atmosphere and intense musical energy.
This EP newly unveils two songs: the main title track 'Not Out' and the sub-title track 'NEVER'. 'NEVER', which begins with a calm acoustic guitar melody, fully captures the emotions of deciding a hesitant breakup through appealing vocals and a powerful rock sound in the latter half.
Additionally, three songs that have been consistently loved on offline stages are included: 'Waste', '이타심 (To. Nosy Boy)', and 'On Air'. Dragon Pony's broad musical spectrum is cleverly utilized across five tracks that combine various genre elements, ranging from aggressive grunge to vintage-textured blues and refreshing, cool guitar-toned pop-rock, all based on authentic rock sound. Furthermore, this album was also produced independently, with all members serving as main producers, directly handling the lyrics, composition, and arrangement for all songs, further raising expectations.
EP [Not Out] contains the autobiographical narratives of each member, honestly reflecting their current state as they navigate a period of uncertain youth. Through this album, Dragon Pony aims to once again highlight the value of imperfection and convey the radiant energy found within it to the world.
