'Beethoven Specialist' Hee-yeon Choi has completed the recording of Beethoven's complete sonatas over 10 years. This complete collection can be said to be a record of her musical life with Beethoven.
The album's subtitle 'TESTAMENT' means 'legacy'. What established Hee-yeon Choi as a 'Beethoven Specialist' was her complete performance series of Beethoven's piano sonatas, which took place over four years starting in 2002. At that time, she set groundbreaking records, including sold-out performances and receiving the 'Artist of the Year Award' from the Korean Culture and Arts Council. Since then, she has continued to research Beethoven's music, firmly maintaining her position as a Beethoven specialist not only in Korea but also in Germany, the United States, and other countries.
Hee-yeon Choi released her first Beethoven Sonata album (including Nos. 18, 26, 27, 30) on the Decca label in 2019, and her second album (including 'Waldstein', 'Tempest', 'Appassionata') in 2021. This complete collection consists of 32 Beethoven sonatas, including remastered audio from the previous two albums, and is comprised of 9 CDs.
