BEETHOVEN Variations for violoncello and piano
Cellist Jungin Huh's third album will be released on April 05 (Fri).
This album includes all of Beethoven's cello works, including variations for piano and cello, and cello arrangements of original works by the composer himself.
The Three Variations on Themes by Handel and Mozart reflect Beethoven's interest in variation techniques during the period from 1800 to 1803. Variations, which continue the musical ideas by transforming the theme in various ways, had previously been used mainly as divertimentos for private music performance gatherings or as a means of showcasing the skills of virtuoso performers. Beethoven also takes opera arias that were widely known to the audience at the time as themes and stays in a playful atmosphere without becoming too serious.
The song Adelaide op.46 is also included on this album as a kind of silent piece for cello and piano. Originally composed for mandolin and harpsichord, 〈Andante and Variations〉 in D major (WoO 44b),
〈12 Variations on "Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen" from Mozart's The Magic Flute〉 (op.66), 〈12 Variations on "See the conqu'ring hero comes" from Handel's Judas Maccabaeus〉 (WoO 45), 〈12 Variations on "Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen" from Mozart's The Magic Flute〉 (WoO 46), and Horn Sonata in F major op.17 were recorded with the voice of the cello. Meanwhile, Jungin Huh will present an album release 기념 recital on April 05 at the Kumho Art Hall in the Gwangju U-Square Culture Center and on April 12 at the Lotte Concert Hall.
