Hyangwuhoe's first EP, 《The Panic Tool》, to be played in an emergency.
Places where we could be safe as ourselves are being suppressed and disappearing under the guise of 'equality' and 'rationality.' Even the places where we felt safe no longer function, and we are thrown into the world unprepared for crises, ignored. Like strangers.
《The Panic Tool》 is music as a survival tool amidst emotional disasters that strike without warning. This EP was created by gathering Hyangwuhoe's most exciting, emotional, and loudly screaming songs, as if assembling a bomb in a small room.
The EP begins as one person's story but expands into a team's story through instruments, shared and completed through the ears and hearts of those who live in this time and space.
Just as one finds comfort in sad songs when feeling sad, we hope this music can be a panic tool and a refuge for you when you feel like you're going crazy and want to escape life.
This story is told from the perspective of women who survive and continue to live in this world.
-Hyangwuhoe, All members of the female punk band
—
“The cries of women living in a country abandoned to anarchy by leaders blinded by self-interest.”
Though South Korea repelled internal strife with light sticks, not guns, and with peace, not violence,
everyday hatred is still ongoing.
Hyangwuhoe's first EP, 《The Panic Tool》, contains
the anger and resentment that women in South Korea have inevitably felt,
along with a strong determination to survive to the very end.
If the day comes when every life is valued equally,
this song will be able to stop.

01. RIOT
- The rights of minorities are always pushed aside. This song expresses the bursting desire to cause a 'riot' rather than to endure silently, even if only in song.

02. The Stranger
- News reports daily on new crimes against women. These are not random crimes but clear misogynistic offenses. How wonderful would it be if women, who are forced to be strangers wherever they go, no longer had to be victims and could 'kill before they are killed'?

04. Home Sweet Home
- The image of a mother struggling to raise her children gently amidst childhood domestic violence. Her resolve is unwavering. This is an upbeat song, seemingly contradicting its theme.

05. Ophelia
- The more beautifully depressed women are portrayed, the more women die. 'Like pure saints,' 'as if they were paintings' - why must women be beautiful even in death?
