While preparing for the 〈Hagijangkiha〉 concert, the word I thought about the most was 'immersion.' A few years ago, I started learning a bit about DJing. Sometimes I'd go to parties led by DJs and just enjoy myself. When a skilled DJ seamlessly blends music for a couple of hours, it becomes not just a simple playlist but a unique, standalone work. Its distinct narrative arc draws the party-goers into a state of immersion. I wanted to apply that method to my own concert. Just like DJs do, I arranged the songs so that each one flowed naturally into the next. During the performance of twenty-two songs, which made up most of the setlist, there were no pauses for applause. The result was highly satisfying. A unique, standalone work, not just a playlist. A distinct narrative arc. And most importantly, immersion. I believe this concert was the best I've ever done. The expressions of my colleagues on stage, and the voices of everyone in the audience, told me every moment that it wasn't just my feeling.
Honestly, I'm the type to believe that a concert being remembered only in memory is meaningful enough. Even while preparing for this concert, I hadn't thought about releasing a live album. After my agency observed our practices, they suggested that this concert absolutely had to be recorded. Listening to the completed album, I realize how grateful I am for that suggestion. Precious memories have been captured in this album. I can't wait to listen to it with all of you. And I can't wait to be on stage again. See you soon.
Sincerely, Jang Kiha.
