OHCHILL's 2nd Studio Album
The wild duo band OHCHILL releases their 2nd studio album [The Burning City] four years after their 1st album [Oh, Two Animals] in 2019. While the 1st album focused on the Two Animals themselves, the 2nd album [The Burning City] tells stories about what surrounds them.
OHCHILL's work on their 2nd album began during the COVID-19 pandemic. With viruses, wars, climate crises, racial discrimination and hatred, SNS and drug addiction, and all sorts of other incidents running rampant, it's not unreasonable to think that the end of the world is near. This album was created while observing a world hurtling towards its end, with each track capturing various major and minor events happening in the city we live in today.
OHCHILL's 2nd album [The Burning City] tells the past and present stories of a sole survivor in a burned and ruined city. It features songs like "The Grey Area," which expresses the screams of the lone survivor in a city reduced to gray ashes by war; "Something's Wrong," which tells the stories of people barely surviving in a bustling city but facing a deluge of depression and helplessness upon returning to an empty home, and young people driven to contemplate death in their struggle to conform to normalcy; "D-57," a final message left for loved ones 57 days before the end of life; "My Naked Picture," about a cruel betrayal by a loved one; and "Tiny Demons," about people trapped in the shackles of SNS. After hearing these stories, one might somewhat understand why the city burned. Nevertheless, as always, stories of love cannot be omitted. Through "Dead Letter," an unsent letter written to a loved one, and "KUMA," a song of affection sung to a son before the city burned, they never let go of the thread of hope, even in the darkest night.
