Cellist Park Yu-shin's third official album release
Cellist Park Yu-shin, who has both scholarly enthusiasm and broad interpretation as a soloist, as well as the planning skills she has shown as the artistic director of the Autumn Chamber Music Festival and the Pohang International Music Festival, will release the album [Winterreise] on December 4th through Warner Music Korea, which is the first major label in Korea to record Schubert's song cycle <Winterreise> with cello.

Cellist Park Yu-shin has expanded the spectrum of the cello repertoire by discovering and exploring works that were recorded and performed on the cello for the first time in Korea in her first official album [Dichterliebe] and second official album [White Night]. This album also planned a new album project [Winterreise] based on her footsteps. Park Yu-shin said, "It is important for a cellist to play the existing cello repertoire well, but I wanted to do a more meaningful 'my own work', so I decided to play Schubert's songs," revealing the purpose of releasing the album.
[Winterreise] is Park Yu-shin's second project to perform a masterpiece of song cycle on the cello and release it as an album, and she has more precisely interpreted the story and emotional layers of vocal works with the delicate tone and bowing technique of the cello. This album is even more noteworthy in that it explores the possibilities of the cello as a string instrument in interpreting art songs.
This album contains the entire <Winterreise>, in which Schubert unraveled Wilhelm Müller's poems into music, and expresses love and solitude, the meaning of life, and contemplation on death felt at the end of life. This work, which is considered a representative masterpiece of Romanticism, delicately depicts the changes in the traveler's emotions and thoughts, and allows us to walk together on the aimless wandering journey of a traveler abandoned by the world. Through [Winterreise], you can meet Park Yu-shin's cello in the 'inner song cycle' that opens up free interpretation and room for listeners.
Park Yu-shin paid attention to the fact that she can realize the subtle emotional texture in this work with the warm and rich tone of the cello. She wants to deliver a story that only the cello can tell on the traces where lyrics and words have disappeared, and a deep emotion that goes beyond the limitations of lyrics.
Second album project with Lieder specialist pianist Florian Uhlig
Florian Uhlig, a professor at the Lübeck University of Music in Germany and a well-known Lieder specialist pianist, teamed up again following Park Yu-shin's first debut album [Dichterliebe] in 2022. The album recording took place over three days from November 11th to 13th last year at the Tongyeong International Music Hall. This album, which reinterprets and presents the German art song repertoire that the two German music specialists have built up, is raising expectations by fully showcasing their deepened musical communication.
