Stray Kids will release their new mini-album '樂-STAR' (Rock-Star) and title track 'Rock (樂)' on November 10th.
Stray Kids made a strong impression as 'leaders of K-pop's 4th generation' with three consecutive #1s on the US 'Billboard 200' with their works: 'ODDINARY' in 2022, 'MAXIDENT' in the same year, and their full album '★★★★★ (5-STAR)' in June 2023. As part of their '5-STAR Dome Tour 2023', they became the first K-pop 4th generation boy group to perform in Japan's four major dome venues, including Fukuoka PayPay Dome, Vantelin Dome Nagoya, Kyocera Dome Osaka, and Tokyo Dome. The 8 performances across 4 Japanese cities saw over 2.5 million pre-applications, proving their immense popularity and achieving immediate sell-outs. Furthermore, after performing at KSPO DOME with 'Stray Kids 2nd World Tour "MANIAC" Seoul Special (UNVEIL 11)' in September last year, they achieved another rapid sell-out at their solo concert 'Stray Kids '5-STAR Dome Tour 2023 Seoul Special (UNVEIL 13)'' held at Gocheok Sky Dome, considered Korea's largest indoor performance venue, in October this year, showcasing their remarkable growth.
In July 2023, as the first K-pop artists to headline 'Lollapalooza Paris', they captivated over 60,000 spectators and illuminated the night sky of Paris, France. In September, they made their first appearance at the '2023 MTV Video Music Awards' held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, USA, and were honored with the 'Best K-Pop' award for their latest album '★★★★★ (5-STAR)'s title track 'S-Class'. The group's producing team 3RACHA, composed of Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, also took to the stage at the '2023 Global Citizen Festival' in New York's Central Park, delivering an exceptional performance that mesmerized the local audience. With such active presence on global stages, 'K-Pop sensation' Stray Kids is set to release a new mini-album, aiming for even greater heights.
'樂-STAR' is a new album released approximately five months after their 3rd full album, maintaining an organic connection with its predecessor '★★★★★ (5-STAR)'. It expresses a bold aspiration to become rock stars who dominate an era, embodying the meaning of special people who know how to enjoy themselves. Especially, the album's confident message, "Our rock (樂) continues no matter the situation," reflects the group's confidence in creating music that all listeners worldwide can enjoy.
Stray Kids' musical pride, inviting global K-Pop listeners to a festival for those who know how to enjoy, can once again be seen in the tracklist of '樂-STAR'. Including the title track 'Rock (樂)', the album features a total of 8 songs: 'MEGAVERSE', 'Blind Spot', 'COMFLEX', 'Cover Me', 'Leave', the Korean version of their first Japanese EP title track 'Social Path (Feat. LiSA)', and 'Rock (樂) (Rock Ver.)'. Having achieved 3 consecutive #1s on the 'Billboard 200' with their self-produced music, they adorn the credits of their new mini-album, foreshadowing the birth of another well-made work and gifting musical 'joy'.
3RACHA, who have produced the title tracks for all of Stray Kids' albums since their official debut song 'District 9' in March 2018, up to the current comeback title track 'Rock (樂)', further solidify 'Stray Kids' as a unique genre with this album. Additionally, the album's completeness was enhanced through collaborations with renowned domestic and international writers, including member Hyunjin, German hip-hop producer duo Cubeatz (Kevin Gomringer and Tim Gomringer), who have participated in numerous albums by famous overseas hip-hop artists like Travis Scott and Drake, as well as VERSACHOI, Millionboy, and JUN2.
The title track 'Rock (樂)' is a song that uplifts listeners' spirits with its unique melody. Its lyrics deliver fresh excitement with wordplay utilizing '락' (Rock/樂), such as "Welcome to paradise (Rock) sudden thunder (Rock) city rock (Rock) just enjoy (Rock) no hardship (Rock) night of adversity (Rock) endure it till the end, joy after hardship (Rock)". Furthermore, rock elements are added to the repeated sounds in the chorus, allowing listeners to fully enjoy the powerful addictiveness and intensity unique to Stray Kids' music.
In early October 2023, a prologue video was released, marking the official beginning of their comeback. Borrowing the dreams and perspectives of a child before a performance, the video presented the album's 'joys and sorrows' through a solid storyline, sparking fans' curiosity. This was followed by a solemn narration, brilliant visual effects, and a feast of the members' enhanced visuals, effectively heightening the 'enjoyment' for viewers.
Through their new mini-album '樂-STAR', which bears a special seal, and its title track 'Rock (樂)', Stray Kids once again delivers a fresh sensation to the global music market in 2023, driving their trending trajectory.
