"The only certainty you can have in an uncertain world"
We have gone through uncertain times. Sometimes we wavered, and familiar things changed. But in that, we kept asking questions. Is this really our path, what we want to do. It was not easy to find the answer, but the desire to find the answer was clear.
At first, everything seemed certain. We believed that our music was our color and the path we had to take. But in the face of unexpected changes, that belief began to waver. We didn't know what was right, and it felt like there was no way out. We wandered as if we had lost our direction, but even while standing still, we kept asking questions. And at the end of that question, a new path began to appear little by little. We expanded music that we had not been able to try outside of the existing framework, and faced fear and excitement at the same time. 'Will people say we've changed?', 'Will we lose our past achievements?' Endless questions followed, but in the end, the whole process was a way to create our own color.
Our story, which resembles adolescence, was a time of constantly worrying and wavering about who we are, but eventually finding answers little by little. We looked at the same place, but each person's speed and trajectory were different, and it seemed like there was no way out. Sometimes we thought it was the end, and sometimes we wanted to go back to the beginning.
Nevertheless, we were able to move forward because 'there are people who believe in each other' and.. there is a place to return to.
Sometimes we hurt each other, but in the end, we became the driving force for each other to move forward again.
'The only certainty you can have in an uncertain world.'
We were each other's 'immutable law'.
We know now. If we hadn't lost our way, we wouldn't have been able to create our own way. The first full-length album <The Edge of Twenty> is a record of that journey. We hope that our music will be a small lamp for someone else to find their way.
1. 0th Period Self-Study Time (Intro)
This album is about 'growth'. It is also the time that Tasty Shop has passed, and the process of worries and changes that we have faced. I thought that those times were similar to adolescence, so I worked imagining the background of the graduating class of high school. I wanted to capture the moments of daunting growth and the process of finding answers within them. So the first track starts with 'opening the door and entering'. I opened the door and expressed the steps to a new world.
2. The Edge of Twenty
The title 'The Edge of Twenty' was a word that had been in my notepad for a long time. The word edge seems to have many meanings. It can be the beginning for someone, the end for someone, or the sharpness that is sharply revealed. But don't forget. All your angular edges, lovely youth itself!
3. Shower: I wanted to be a pretty cool adult (Feat. Yang Jeong-hoon)
If you're talking about growing pains, maybe this is the song?
This song is a song that was built from complete 'nothing' with the power of everyone. It contains the wandering time and confused mind as it is, so I think it is a more sincere song.
Was I as good an adult as I thought I would be in the past? The answer was close to 'no', but I was a little more determined than yesterday, and I also had a mature appearance that could solve things I didn't like without being indifferent. I don't have myself who didn't give in to the bad weather like a shower and got rained on, but I became a pretty meticulous person who doesn't forget to bring an umbrella.
4. Romance
Why is life so boring and tedious? I'm so young. In that case, eat without a plan and walk down the endless road. Lovers who look happy just by looking at each other, prop shops that make your heart flutter just by looking at them, and if you look at yourself reflected in the glass and see that you look pretty when you smile, how fortunate is everyday life. Like this, our lives are sometimes romantic enough even if we don't do anything.
5. Immutable Law
“We hurt each other, but in the end, we will love each other. Because we are the immutable law!”
Separation and meeting are common to us who are changing rapidly, but isn't there a tenacious relationship that continues despite that? That's us. We have certainty and, of course, uncertainty for us who have been running without a break, but we are certain nonetheless. We will become the immutable law.
6. Come to Me
"If only you come to me, I'll run anywhere!"
It's music that I want to resonate in a vast stadium. It is a melody dedicated to Tasty Shop's reliable saviors, you. I hope we can hold hands and move further together.
07. If you inhale
Sometimes things that weren't anything make your heart feel stuffy. Does becoming an adult mean accepting those moments without a fuss? As time goes by, the sadness of parting seems to be dulled, but I don't know why my parting was so heartbreaking and painful when I was young. My life without you feels meaningless, and I wanted you to come back and stay by my side right away. Winter farewells are cold and the eyes are sore. The overwhelmed heart cools down but fills up quickly. Please know my loneliness without you.
08. Ad Balloon
“Can you go anywhere with me? Even if that place is too dangerous.”
Have you ever seen a hot air balloon in the sky? There is no space as fantastic and dangerous as that. But you never know. The loved one next to me may walk that path with me.
09. Greetings from the Outskirts
There are things I haven't considered because I only thought about my edges. My longtime lover, or family, my friends…
How grand was my youth that I didn't think about the things that were fading?
It's late, but I'm sending my greetings now.
