There was a time when all we had were dreams and a single transportation card, and the whole world felt like ours. Even when our breath caught in our throats because of masks, even when we rubbed our sleepy eyes practicing until dawn, even when we repeated the same daily routines, we never grew tired. On the contrary, we believed all those moments would last forever. But now we know. There's no such thing as forever in this world; only precarious days accumulate like tree rings. We know that inner fears and anxieties create an invisible 'line,' and that line eventually becomes a wall trapping oneself.
Our story begins at that very point. This album <As I am> is a journey to find our true selves, focusing on the 'process' rather than being confined to the 'results' set by the world. It is also an honest record of the time and emotions we've directly faced, cried, laughed, and endured.
While preparing for <As I am>, we each confronted the inner lines we had drawn for ourselves. Recalling our past selves who hesitated to cross those lines, we decided to hold hands once again and move forward. The strength to walk towards the light even in darkness, the will to never lose ourselves and keep moving forward, and the most honest and natural 'me' discovered within that. This album calmly unfolds those very moments.
In any situation, if we have the self-belief and the courage to overcome inner fears and cross the predetermined 'line,' we can find our way to each other even in pitch-black darkness. If we don't lose 'ourselves,' we soon become 'us,' and under the name of 'us,' we can take a new step forward. That's why we bravely cross the 'line' once again.
Ultimately, <As I am> is the story of all of us. If there's anyone trapped by lines and walls, unable to take a single step forward, we want to tell them that a very straight and solid different world awaits beyond, and it's perfectly alright to walk towards it. <As I am> is a record of self-belief and courage for 'us,' and at the same time, a letter of comfort sent to everyone.
