Vienna Boys' Choir
[525th Anniversary Concert]
A live album of the Vienna Boys' Choir's 525th Anniversary Concert held at the Wiener Musikverein. This album features all choirs under the Vienna Boys' Choir's name, including the Vienna Boys' Choir, Vienna Girls' Choir, Chorus Primus (with boys and girls), Chorus Juventus (composed of teenagers), and Chorus Viennensis (comprising former members), along with 14 outstanding instrumentalists.
Beginning and ending with works by Ludwig Senfl, a founding member and composer of the choir, along with pieces by Josquin des Prez, the favorite composer of Emperor Maximilian I of the Holy Roman Empire (who founded the choir), by Bruckner (who was responsible for the boys' musical education), and by Schubert (the most famous figure produced by the choir), the album traces the history of the Vienna Boys' Choir.
