Zakakmong (自覺夢ZAKAKMONG)
Life is... like a dream...
A dream is... like life...,
There is no separate life, and there is no separate dream.
At this moment,,
Just going back and forth, entering and leaving parts of consciousness and unconsciousness.
Existing in the continuity of an entity that crosses that space, as if it does not exist,,
Today, I dream a lucid dream (自覺夢).
Zakakmong (自覺夢)ZAKAKMONG is a mixed-gender duo ambient band formed in 2023.
They play by doubling the acoustic sound of vocals and instruments with electronic and natural sounds. By constructing a dreamy sound at the center of the classical acoustic sound, they pay attention to the ambiguity between everyday life and unreality, repeat it, musicalize it, and derive simplicity.
By repeating lyrical and easy melodies in the dreamy and contemplative atmosphere of ambient music, they draw out resonance and sonic meditation in the blank space that follows the phenomenon. It's like being placed on the line of 'communion and connection with nature and the universe (all one) from a personal inner eye (alone)', as if dreaming.
1. Garbha
Garbha is a Sanskrit word meaning the womb of a woman, and it also means that the god expressed as a woman is the only unchanging being in the universe (jagat). In yoga, Garbha expresses the baby in the womb and depicts the extreme aspects of pain and peace.
The music lists the points in time when one enters into oneself and finds peace in the steep world, and it is solved in the form of a road movie.
The beginning and end of the geomungo is 'me (alone)' and at the same time, it concludes with us (all one). It is created at the beginning (introduction) and is leisurely, but before knowing its softness, it puts itself in the flow of the world and runs, forgetting its own speed. Soon, it reminisces with self-pity, fiercely comforts, and rushes to the extreme, from all overloads, from wounds......, and finally settles down as if breaking. Finally, it entrusts everything to the womb of this world and puts everything down. As if remembering the soft mother's touch and scent... like holding a child inside, take a long, cozy touch and take a deep breath slowly and exhale.
2. Wind Horse (Lung ta)
When a stranger sets foot on the Tibetan Plateau, the first flags that greet them are called Lung ta. These five-colored flags are hung and flutter in the wind almost everywhere from the entrance of the village. Lung ta means Horse wind, and prayer texts are hung in five colors on a long rope and laid out in a long line. The five-colored flags, which are diffusely reflected in the wild and intense sunlight, feel dazzling with all visible light. Moreover, the sound of the fluttering is like the appearance of any Tibetan who resembles the courage of a beast, the rough wilderness, and the towering spirit. They live in a windy plateau and believe that the wind is a messenger conveying the will of God [Lha], so they symbolized the wind with words, 'Lung ta', that is, the image of 'wind horse'.
When I visited the place again in 2017, more than ten years later, it was changing into a different aspect. It is a song that commemorates their courage and spirit and at the same time comforts their pain and displacement 失鄕.
3. Mist (雲霧)
Fallen leaves return to their roots (落葉歸根)
When winter comes, fallen leaves return to their roots...
Please go well~
You lived well, so you will go well..
Even if you don't know well and can't see well because it's your first time going that way,
We will play our music for you on the way you go, which we couldn't give you.
No matter how hard we try not to be sad or regretful, this seems to be our best.
Even though we live excessively with the image of you that we remember, your requests, and your consideration, the longing to see you becomes clearer.
Please don't worry about us and be forever at peace in your own comfort.._()_
4. Lazy Pump
On the coast of Aewol, there is a cafe made by remodeling an old three-story building. In one corner of the place, there is a large lump of cast iron that looks very old, and it was an engine that drew water from the sea. Originally, the place was a fish farm where fish were kept and raised a long time ago, and it was a powerful pump engine that drew seawater. It has lost its use now, but the solidity and heaviness felt from the enormous size, and the loud exhaust sound of the large heart seem to be heard. The owner of the place continues it as a cafe named 'Lazy Pump' as if commemorating, reminiscing, and comforting it.
This song was inspired by the name. The once powerful driving force and tireless power seemed to represent our youth. We just ran so hotly, forgetting that we could stop at any time, and our illusion that we would be eternal, whether in great resistance, in endless competition, or in the emptiness that comes on its own, forgetting that we would stop or fall..
And now I tell you to stop a little. Now stop resting, now put it down and quietly come down and sit in your blue sky and your leisurely daily life with your steps.
5. Didn't I know it then...
Why didn't I know it then... then...
The real sunset after the sunset and the nameless flowers that bloom when the flowers fall
Why didn't I know it then
You who just smiled and laughed for no reason, I miss you so much…
Why didn't I know it then
That your silence was love
Why didn't I know it then
Regret after leaving because I was too familiar.. Leaving is the responsibility and loneliness of one's own will
Why didn't I know it then
Your meaning that I only realized after parting
Why didn't I know it then
I'm too tired, trying so hard
6. Moon Tip (月尖)
The sharp parts at both ends of the crescent moon are called the moon tips (月尖).
This song used only two instruments. One is the sharp sound of a modified mandolin, and the other is the contrasting sound of a daegeum full of overtones and soft. It is as if the sharp sides of both ends of the crescent moon are intentionally contrasted. Sometimes they split into opposing structures, sometimes they conflict closely, and sometimes they leisurely listen to and look at each other's existence.
When you reach the moonlight... when you reach the end of the moon... go as you are...
Standing alone as if going together, standing together as if going alone
7. Nothing's wrong
When I was young, I was afraid of this world and found stability in the closet. Whenever there is a difficult thing,, I repeat.. If you think nothing is wrong, nothing is wrong in this world.. Whenever life gets hard,, my father's words.. "Nothing's wrong." After sending my father away,, the words that linger in my head
