■ Product Description
Singer Cho Yong-pil is back with '20'.
After showing the journey to the 20th album in order with 'Road to 20 – Prelude 1' in 2022 and 'Road to 20 – Prelude 2' in 2023, singer Cho Yong-pil has finally revealed the entire big picture of the album '20'. In the new work '20', Cho Yong-pil shows 'Cho Yong-pil ver. 2024' by stamping Cho Yong-pil's unique and intense musical imprint on a wide genre spectrum that crosses rock, electronica, and ballad.
The first song and title track 'It's Okay' is a touching cheer song for everyone in this era. It's a song that tells you to believe in yourself now and that it's okay to be a little late. The message is gentle, but the color of the music is refreshing. A powerful electric guitar, a refreshing vocal, and high-resolution sound are all mobilized to complete Cho Yong-pil's unique modern rock. Lyricist Lim Seo-hyun, who wrote the lyrics, explains that the concept of this song is 'halfway (somewhere in the middle, imperfectly, pretty good)'. "If you believe in yourself, it's okay to be a little later than others or to go down the wrong path sometimes. It's okay. I wanted to tell everyone, and myself."
'Moment' is an exciting pop rock with a catchy '떼창 (떼창)' section. A city drive song sung by someone who is taking someone they just fell in love with home, unable to control the hand on the steering wheel, the heart on the road. The shimmering electric guitar and the drumming beat that runs like a running start are dazzling. 'Sparkling you, disheveled me / It's a fantastic flow!'
'Timing' is a fast-paced electronic pop•rock. A rap-like fast offbeat song runs on top of the ground-shaking beat. It bounces like a clear shower. Has the boy who was at a loss, saying 'My heart is Bounce Bounce pounding', become a young man? It's cute as if he's shouting his own realization, like 'There's Timing in love!' 'There's Timing in life!' An addictive song that will shine in baseball stadiums, concert halls, and short forms on mobile phones.
'Like Serengeti' is a track that will properly lift and drop a large concert hall. An exotic melody like a Nordic folk song is wrapped around a four-on-the-floor rhythm that induces huge applause. It's like a camping festival held on a wide field instead of a difficult climb up Kilimanjaro. Ecstasy and joy jump out of the speakers.
The ballad 'Why' is a dreamy love song like an autumn night dream. It's a dramatic masterpiece. The song, which starts with a dreamy whisper and calm keyboard performance, develops precariously, going back and forth between minor and major keys, true and false voices. The eruption in the second half is also a masterpiece. It reaches its peak with an intense guitar solo reminiscent of progressive metal and a rushing string section, then closes the curtain and disappears like a ghost.
'Feeling of You' is back to a refreshing festival vibe. The chorus 'Now light a fire / Now feel your dream, for you / The feeling of you' will excite dreamers in this world like the 2024 version of 'Let's Go on a Trip'. A song for those who leave their complicated daily lives and run towards their dreams.
'Ra' is the hardest electronica track. A chewy build-up, a dense bass, and an explosive snare sound collide happily with Cho Yong-pil's robot-processed vocals. Cho Yong-pil's unique husky and meticulous voice meets cutting-edge arrangement and exudes irreplaceable refreshment. It lightly jumps over the walls of generation and genre.
The music video for the title track 'It's Okay' was produced by 'Dolphine Kidnapping Gang', which is hot in collaboration with New Jeans. Director Lee Joo-hyung, who took the megaphone, said, "I wanted to tell those who are walking in the darkness where the word hope becomes childish, that the voice and gaze that support you are in the closest place."
Is there any need for further explanation before the number '20'? '20' is cold. '20' is hot. We were all '20'. Or it will be '20'. All those '20's sleeping inside us meet new songs and breathe again. It comes to life. It wriggles. The heart of '20' beats again.
