In June 2011, Daniil Trifonov burst onto the international stage with a dazzling victory at the 14th International Tchaikovsky Competition. Now, he releases an album entirely devoted to Tchaikovsky's piano solo works.
This album reveals the composer's more intimate and personal side, structured around themes of childhood, his mother, family, and youth.

Trifonov delves deeply into Tchaikovsky's piano solo music, from the lesser-known <Piano Sonata Op. 80> to <Theme and Variations Op. 19-6> and <Children’s Album>. Additionally, the album includes the ballet suite from <The Sleeping Beauty>, arranged by Mikhail Pletnev, who won the Tchaikovsky Competition 33 years before Trifonov himself.
