[Not Out] revealed, an autobiographical narrative that captures a cross-section of imperfect youth!
Dragon Pony, who created a new sensation in the domestic music scene with the release of their first debut album [POP UP] on September 26, 2024, will release their second EP [Not Out] on March 19, 2025.
‘Not Out’, the title of this EP and its main title track, is an expression derived from baseball terminology, referring to the chance for a batter to remain a runner and not be out under certain conditions, even in a three-strike situation.
The main title track ‘Not Out’ likens contemporary youth, who constantly challenge themselves towards their dreams, to a 'not out' situation. It conveys encouragement that even though reality may be unsettling and overwhelming like a long tunnel, a life of challenge itself holds meaning. At the same time, it reinforces the will to move forward without fear, even if the end of one's efforts leads to a moment of despair. Characterized by its elegant arrangement, which strategically places and deconstructs instruments, it maximizes emotional immersion in the lyrics, allowing listeners to experience both a lyrical atmosphere and fervent musical energy.
This EP newly presents two songs: the main title track ‘Not Out’ and the sub-title track ‘NEVER’. ‘NEVER’, which begins with a calm acoustic guitar melody, fully captures the emotions of a moment when one decides on a hesitant breakup, through soulful vocals and a powerful rock sound in the latter half.
Additionally, three songs that have been consistently loved on offline stages are included: ‘Waste’, ‘Altruism (To. Nosy Boy)’, and ‘On Air’. Dragon Pony's broad musical spectrum is cleverly utilized across five tracks that combine various genre elements, from aggressive grunge to vintage-textured blues and refreshing, cool-toned pop-rock, all based on authentic rock sounds. Furthermore, this album was also produced with an independent producing method where all members directly handled the lyrics, composition, and arrangement of all songs as main producers, adding to the anticipation.
EP [Not Out] contains each member's autobiographical narratives, honestly reflecting their current state as they navigate the unsettling period of youth. Through this album, Dragon Pony plans to once again highlight the value of imperfection and convey the radiant energy found within it to the world.
