* Gaho Mini Album “Diamond” Review
A gift filled with inner substance
A musical movie in six chapters “Diamond”
Gaho's music stimulates the imagination. When you listen to his songs, movie-like scenes come to mind. Satisfying the ears with a sweet voice and beautiful melody, satisfying the body with exciting beats and smooth grooves, it goes beyond the two types of satisfaction commonly felt through music. Music that awakens the imagination through sound and satisfies the five senses through imagination. The ability to weave together the diverse imageries of the motives that led to the creation of the song, creating a movie-like mood. This is why Gaho's music can be enjoyed in a special way.
Gaho's second mini-album “Diamond” feels like watching a musical movie in six chapters. Two songs have already been released as singles, and it is impressive that you can get this feeling even though each song does not have direct continuity.
The aspects of the six songs on the album are diverse. 'Beautiful Night', which unfolded a splendid scene, 'Only You', which softly conveyed the feeling of love. If you recall the contrasting atmospheres of the two songs that were released earlier, you can guess the differences in atmosphere. The newly included songs are the same. It's diverse, from calm instrumental pieces to lyrical R&B ballads, to refreshing pop and folk styles. The impressive part is the arrangement of the songs. Sadness and loneliness are placed at the beginning and end of the album, and the emotions and atmosphere are naturally connected from the first track to the last track. This is the part that confirms the value of the album as a whole.
The first track, 'Intro', creates a melody with the main melody of the following song, 'Love Me'. It contains an elegant yet sad emotion to hint at the content of the title song. The clear tones of the piano and harp come across as short but intense.
The second track, 'Love Me', stands out from the beginning. The sound of a music box and the sound of a vibraphone flow out like a music box, focusing emotions. The song is about living a seemingly perfect life but feeling empty because you can't achieve love, and you can clearly feel the emotions that gradually fall into the honest inner self.
The third track is 'Beautiful Night', which was previously released as a single. It was inspired by the party scene in the movie "The Great Gatsby" and is about inviting the female lead to a party he is hosting. The bright and refreshing sound is key.
The fourth track is 'Diamond', the title of the album. It was made by comparing the pleasant excitement and feelings for a loved one to a diamond. The heavy beat reminiscent of a beating heart and the vocal distortion that seems to express shyness are impressive.
The fifth track is also 'Only You', which was previously released as a single. It was created with an antique atmosphere in mind and contains a soft and elegant charm.
The last track is 'Lonely'. The song is led by an acoustic guitar throughout, expressing lonely feelings in a direct yet indifferent way. By including the expression 'I'm doing well' and the contrasting expression 'I'm lonely' together, it easily unravels the complex emotions of pretending to be okay but not really being okay.
It's interesting how the four newly created songs are placed in between the contrasting atmospheres of the two songs, 'Beautiful Night' and 'Only You', creating a subtle flow. A story is created in which a man with many things recalls a splendid party after losing love, expresses love with an excited heart and an earnest heart, but ends up alone.
Gaho said that this album is 'a gift of gratitude to everyone who listens to this album'. A dazzling brilliance and a diamond with an inner self that is more strongly bonded than anything else. It is a valuable album like a diamond, with six shining songs tightly intertwined. (Written by Lee Yong-ji, pop music critic)
