[Album Introduction]
We don't erase a word, we erase limitations.
To a wider world, to a more intense existence.
'(G)I-DLE' is now an identity and a movement.
i-dle 8th Mini Album [We are]
The eighth mini-album [We are], released after all members renewed their contracts, is an album that tells the story of 'us' who have walked together over the past time, changing the 'I' in the 'I' series that started with the debut album [I am] to 'We'. You can feel the ambition of 'us' starting anew while continuing the unique style that has been shown so far.
The title song ‘Good Thing’, which opens the album, is a song that stands out with Soyeon’s unique cool and confident lyrics such as “This is really funny, haha, really hilarious, it’s fun.” The retro-sounding instruments that lead the entire track and the witty 8-Bit Sound in the second verse add a sensual mood to the song. The second song, ‘Girlfriend’, is also a song that completes Soyeon’s unique color with cute comfort to a friend who has experienced a breakup, and the rhythmic drums and guitar sounds meet with each member’s unique vocals to double the charm of the song.
Woogi's self-composed song, the third track, ‘Love Tease’, is a disco genre song that (G)I-DLE has not attempted before, and Woogi’s unique melodic topline is added to the minimal retro track to maximize (G)I-DLE’s sensual and unique identity. ‘Chain’ is a song with Minnie’s unique dreamy topline, and expresses the sensual changes of (G)I-DLE, who have entered a new chapter, with various sounds. In particular, the bold and direct lyrics boldly capture (G)I-DLE’s growth and inner changes.
Miyeon’s self-composed song ‘Unstoppable’, which is included in the group album for the first time, is a groovy and jazzy pop track in the R&B genre, and the novel-like lyrics combined with emotional words add to the fun of listening to the song. Shuhua's ballad song ‘It’s Okay’ is the first song she has participated in writing lyrics in 8 years since her debut, and despite being her first time writing lyrics, she completed the last track by fully capturing Shuhua’s delicate and warm emotional lines.
This album, which aims to capture the aspect of an artist who has broken away from the existing framework through bold attempts and unpredictable expressions to express a new beginning and a high leap, is the first album since debut in which all members participated in writing and composing, capturing the meaning of 'us' that the album has, and you can clearly feel the musical style of each member in each track.
(G)I-DLE’s eighth mini album [We are] declaring a new beginning.
I hope the second story of ‘i-dle ((G)I-DLE)’ starting with ‘us’ reaches everyone indifferently but intensely.
01. Good Thing
No song introduction.
02. Girlfriend
Interestingly, Girlfriend was written in 2022, but it was judged that it would be more suitable in 2025, so it is only now being released.
The genre is pop that is good to listen to while driving, and the cool melody and group singing are attractive.
The refreshing lyrics, ‘Throw that man away, I’m here’, are impressive, and if you meet him again, you’re dead.
03. Love Tease
‘Love Tease’ is a combination of dynamic bass, rhythmic drums, and the vintage charm of analog-sounding instruments, combined with Woogi’s sophisticated mood.
Love? Pretending not to know while knowing. ‘Love Tease’ is like Woogi, a little different.
Old? That’s not our style.
Modern mood in vintage sound
(G)I-DLE like this, Woogi like this again
04. Chain
(G)I-DLE’s new chapter, ‘Chain’ that tightly binds us.
Minnie’s unique dreamy atmosphere, direct language, and unrefined emotions.
05. Unstoppable
Even if you falter and are pushed by the storm, you will eventually reach the answer that is you.
Miyeon’s self-composed song ‘Unstoppable’, which is included in the group album for the first time, is a medium R&B pop track with a harmonious combination of groovy drums, jazzy chords, and warm brass, adding three-dimensionality by smoothly crossing a wide range, and Miyeon’s unique warm lyrics increase the immersion of the song.
06. It's Okay
To the immature and very painful me at that time
I carefully speak.
It's okay not to try to find the answer,
All those feelings were just passing by.
I'm okay now.
So I want to tell you.
To me at that time... thank you for holding on so well.
