“Illumination” encompasses meanings such as light, lighting, understanding, enlightenment, and explanation. Just as other places may be dark but the light illuminating a performer on stage is bright, Illumination signifies a bright light shining in the midst of darkness. The reason light is precious is not only because of its captivating brightness, but also because it reveals what was buried and hidden by darkness. The value of music lies in the attention given to what was unnoticed, and the reflection on it through an artist's ‘light’ and an artist's ‘way of seeing things differently.’ It would not be an exaggeration to say that violinist Hyun Mi Kim's ongoing musical journey perfectly embodies the meaning of such light.”
