Kim Kwang Seok Remastering 2 (1995) Original Artwork Reproduction CD Release!!
This is a rare Korean popular music masterpiece that captured both musicality and commercial success. Despite the limitations of being a remake album, Kim Kwang Seok achieved musical achievements that surpassed the original songs, not only for other musicians' songs but also for his own.
The total of 11 songs included in the album were a genealogy of Korean modern folk drawn by Kim Kwang Seok, and a list of Korean folk masterpieces that he expressed respect for. The first track is <Wind and I> by Han Dae-soo, who is considered the founder of modern folk. This song was first sung by Kim Min-ki.
After that, Kim Eui-cheol's <Unhappy Child> (a song widely known as <Following the Clouds in the Sky>), Yang Byeong-jip's <Car on Two Wheels> and Lee Jeong-seon's <The Day She First Cried> in the 1980s, Baek Chang-woo's <My Love>, Kim Chang-ki of the Zoo's <Things Being Forgotten>, <Changing>, Yoo Joon-yeol of the Zoo's <Friend in a Cage> and Kim Mok-kyung's <The Story of an Old Couple in Their 60s> and Han Dong-heon's <My Song> in the 1990s followed. The song that decorated the finale was Kim Kwang Seok's <Too Painful Love Was Not Love>. Jo Dong-ik's musicality, who was in charge of the session and arrangement, shined in this album as well.
Kim Kwang Seok, who contributed to the live concert culture of small theaters in Daehak-ro in the 1990s, did his best to revive the flame of modern folk, which had been pushed aside by hip-hop, dance, and ballads. It was a great achievement to spread folk music, which was already disconnected from the public, to the younger generation of the time.
