Klaus Mäkelä, who at the young age of 20 has taken the baton of world-renowned orchestras, presents his third album with the Orchestre de Paris. Following his previous work on Debussy, this album contains fantastic masterpieces by French composers.
Opening the album is Berlioz's <Symphonie Fantastique>, which completely overturned the grammar of existing symphonies. Mäkelä reveals the sense of love and life permeating this symphony, a work of eternal youth, showing a vibrant new aspect.
Next is Maurice Ravel's <La Valse>. Ravel wanted to write a work that would plunge the audience into a "fantastic and fatal vortex," which feels like a modern response to <Symphonie Fantastique> earlier. This album showcases Mäkelä's elegant conducting and the Orchestre de Paris's outstanding skills.
