NOMAD 1st EP <NOMAD>
<Album Introduction>
[NOMAD 1st EP ‘NOMAD’]
‘NOMAD’ is a team formed under the leadership of ‘Doy,’ who handles self-production. The team name ‘NOMAD’ is an acronym for ‘Need Our Microphone And Dances.’ It embodies the confidence to ‘bring our microphones to truly dance and enjoy the stage,’ serving as an ambitious declaration to the world.
Comprised entirely of members in their 20s, ‘NOMAD’ creates an inner circle with young listeners who share their generation, all within the overarching theme of ‘youth.’
Their strength, charm, and differentiating factor lie in their ability to create their own music directly.
Leader ‘Doy’ not only expressed a narrative of personal ‘growth’ through the songs but also structured it within the tracklist. It incorporates personal stories such as the first encounter of love and heartbreak, as well as the confidence and boldness to overcome anxieties and concerns about the future felt by those in their 20s with a progressive and challenging mindset. This evolved into a larger ‘grand narrative’ as the members came together. Not only did Doy participate in writing and composing all tracks, but for the title track ‘California Love,’ he personally created all the choreography. He also participated in the directing of another title track, ‘No Pressure,’ and the b-side track ‘Lights On.’ In this way, ‘NOMAD,’ led by such a versatile ‘all-rounder’ member, maintains a consistent, assertive, and confident attitude regarding both the album’s message and the quality of the songs themselves.
All four other members also show interest in songwriting and performance work, and the new stories they create will be seamlessly added, becoming ‘NOMAD’s own ‘grand movement’ in the future.
They concluded that there is no more effective way to create and deliver their own stories, and what they do best, than to act as their own speakers. What genre truly expresses ‘my real life’? To convey a multifaceted narrative, they chose just one thing: their story borrowed from the musical genre of Hip-hop R&B, and confidence in its essence. This is the inherent color and identity of ‘NOMAD.’
The experience of an individual becomes one’s own experience simply by listening to music. ‘NOMAD’ is rewriting the essence of that music in their own way. While not deviating from existing popular music narratives and adhering to K-POP songwriting methods that combine performance, this is why they can be called ‘artists.’
Listeners engaging with ‘NOMAD’s album will be able to feel both contemporaneity and personal relevance simultaneously, by listening to music that carries ‘NOMAD’s unique autobiographical message.
