The story of two people facing and moving on from the pain of separation
I don't know what the exact meaning of 'Summer Snow' is or how they came up with that name. Still, I know what it feels like to see and say the word 'Summer Snow'. It's like an 'image'. Summer Snow writes and expresses the images of romance, youth, and lingering feelings that summer holds. That's what Summer Snow's song 'When the South Wind Blows', which I heard for the first time, was like. This heart of conveying regards under the pretext of the wind is in line with the emotions of summer. Summer Snow has been gradually expanding and deepening those emotions and images, and has been stacking up songs. Footprints of Farewell, When the South Wind Blows, Sunbed, Night Mail, Let's Go to Gangneung.... Just reading the song titles makes me feel like I've fully enjoyed Summer Snow's music. They clearly know their direction and express it in lyrics and sound. [Summer, Moon] contains stories of various emotions, including love, within summer. From the time a pleasant breeze starts to blow until the sound of summer ending, Summer Snow's music will shine more brilliantly like summer sunshine. Of course, this lingering feeling of romance will last for a long time in other seasons as well. / Kim Hak-seon (Pop Music Critic)
Summer Snow Regular Album Vol. 1 [Summer, Moon]
The story of two people facing and moving on from the pain of separation
Summer Snow's first full-length album is reminiscent of a road movie. Their story, which begins with separation, revolves around the relationship between summer and moon through twelve tracks, comforting each other's wounds and moving forward together towards self-growth.
The album begins with a summer farewell. (Track 1, 'Footprints of Farewell') Summer spends time facing the farewell. (Track 2, 'When the South Wind Blows') Moon meets Summer, who has returned from India, at a cafe in Seoul and listens to her story. (Track 3, 'Summer Snow') Moon tells Summer about her current relationship. (Tracks 4 and 5, 'Kiss on Seongbuk-dong Hill' and 'My Boyfriend') Moon hopes that the current relationship and feelings can last as long as possible. (Track 6, 'SUNBED') After some time, Moon also faces a time of separation. Moon takes time to reflect on herself. (Track 7, 'Night Mail') Summer hears about Moon and thinks about her. (Track 8, 'Moon, Moon') On a sleepless night, Summer calls Moon. (Track 9, 'Lullaby for the Moon') Summer takes Moon across the deep night to Gangneung. (Track 10, 'Let's Go to Gangneung') In the deepening dawn, Summer and Moon sing prayers to the names they can no longer call out on the beach in Gangneung. (Track 11, 'Warm Heart') When the colors of each other's sadness have faded, Summer and Moon look forward to the new spring to come, and the story ends.
Summer and Moon are fictional characters born from the stories of friends, lovers, acquaintances, and colleagues. The story was created by focusing on the common experiences they had in the life of a metropolis called Seoul. I wonder who the listeners will think of when they hear the album. And which character, Summer or Moon, will they empathize with.
I hope that those who listen to this album will live through solid moments where they can willingly say goodbye to the names that have passed, rather than a time of resignation of 'I guess I'll live on anyway'.
