The Shepherd Bois [Woori]
When I was asked to write this, I didn't immediately accept. I figured I should truly feel something before recommending it to others, so I decided to listen to the album first. After listening, I agreed to write without hesitation. The music resonated with me.
Why did it resonate? We live in an era overflowing with plausible music. I believe plausible music and good music are different. Good music contains honesty and originality. That's my belief. I felt that The Shepherd Bois pursues both of these qualities.
Firstly, in the lyrics, I sensed many personal struggles. It seemed like those who are past adolescence (from <Adolescence>) but haven't yet become rock stars (from <Even If I Become a Rockstar, All I Need Is You>) were trying to tell stories that they could only tell right now. There were also traces of their efforts to express the happenings in their hearts as accurately as possible.
In terms of musical style, I felt they variously inherited many traditions of rock and K-pop, but rather than simply adopting traditions, they seemed to carefully dismantle them and reassemble them in their own way. They play well too. Honestly, I tend to think that good musicianship is a double-edged sword for a new band. If misused, it can sound hackneyed. But The Shepherd Bois used their excellent musicianship to heighten the vibrancy of youth. I believe the Korean language is a wonderful instrument, and I liked the way they handled that instrument. Oh, and there were many songs that would be great for everyone to enjoy and have fun with at a rock festival.
Well, anyway, I mean I found it quite enjoyable. This is the first full-length album from a band starting with a good vision. I'm curious to see what they'll do next. Why don't we watch together?

01. Boy
This song was written while watching things slowly begin the day outside the window at dawn.
The sight of nature starting a new day seems so dignified and wonderful.
Like a radio opening the morning, we present this song to you as the beginning of our 1st full-length album [Woori]!
02. Riding on Clouds
“Dark clouds on the left, heavy with rain, keep chasing me, but over there, you grab my hand and run towards the bright light!”
This song captures the boy's gratitude for a presence that embraces him with a wholly bright smile.
03. Is It Fate?
When you meet someone who feels like fate, you want to call it destiny, but sometimes you wonder if it's just your premature delusion.
But what can you do? All of this is fate.
04. Adolescence
We depicted our unchanging adolescent selves living in a contradictory world.
For the childhood we will reclaim, we who sacrificed our boyhood and girlhood to become adults, yet ultimately gaze upon the same sky.
05. Even If I Become a Rockstar, All I Need Is You
It's all written in the title.
06. Intermission
Intermission: In today's plays, operas, musicals, and other performances, this term is primarily used to refer to the break given until the next act begins.
07. Break Time
Words are so important to us. That's why, paradoxically, I want to say that words aren't even necessary.
08. Woori (Our)
Let's dance together
Old people, young people, men, women, passersby, lovers, those standing still, mothers, fathers, older sisters, younger siblings, busy people, struggling people, those who need to go somewhere, those who don't understand, lonely people, everyone
Gather here
09. David
Introducing the third most famous shepherd.
Don't you think he resembles us?
10. Shepherd's Song
Come to think of it, 'shepherd' and 'boy' seem like an interesting combination. Because a boy can easily manage to herd a large flock of sheep alone.
Even if they are naive boys, they are the ones who love the sheep more than anyone.
We are ‘The Shepherd Bois’.
11. Welcome!
This song was written on my birthday in April. This year's birthday passed somewhat dryly, difficultly, and without much fun. Honestly, I didn't have strong feelings about birthdays, but when it passed so meaninglessly, I felt a bit strange.
So, I imagined this:
If I, celebrating a past birthday, were to transcend time and space to this year's birthday, wouldn't I find more comfort and strength by seeing that friend (my past self)? Because that friend was more vibrant, had more initial spirit, and more curiosity than I do now.
Alright! Now it's the album's curtain call. Let's finish it happily!
