Yunchan Lim's new album features 'The Seasons,' Tchaikovsky's representative collection of piano miniatures, interpreted with profound depth. He portrays the twelve pieces not as seasonal changes but as a narrative of the last year of human life.
According to Yunchan Lim, the work begins with a figure sitting by the hearth, recalling the past, and concludes with a peaceful farewell. Each piece encapsulates different moments or emotions, from sadness to contemplation, joy, love, and peace.
Yunchan Lim performed this work on stage during the 2023-2024 season, receiving enthusiastic praise from critics and audiences worldwide. French magazine Diapason lauded, “The beauty flowing from the piano and the masterful technique felt unreal. No one would have believed that 'The Seasons' could resonate so deeply with an audience.”
The cover artwork was created by artist Choi Ho-yeon. The title, 'How Much Do the Petals Weigh?', captures the emotions and questions felt in 'The Seasons.'
